There are three species that live within the Commonwealth;

[li]Are immortal as long as they are not killed (this means any kind of mortal injury, not just a stake through the heart)
[/li][li]Have super speed and strength
[/li][li]Cannot drink gifted blood because it is poisonous to them. Human blood, to them, is like caffeine to us. Not good for them, but also not bad (in small doses)
[/li][li]Can tell what 'breed' a person is by SCENT
Shifters;
[/li][li]Can shift into one, two or three animals. More forms come with more experience/strength/mastery of the power. Beginners are lucky to have any control over shifting at all. It takes at least a half a century to reach up to two animals.
[/li][li] Shifters are immortal as well, so long as they are not killed by a wound or by disease.
[/li][li]Their only other advantage is ability to use a certain extent of mental powers (i.e mind talking, basically, however some have been able to dream walk)
[/li][li] Age normally until they are about 21 years old, then aging comes to a halting stop, and they age one year every 2 centuries.
[/li][li]Often have abnormal strength, agility or reflexes due to the animal genes inside of them.
Mentals;
[/li][li]Age the same as Shifters, and have the same mortality (or rather, immortality)
[/li][li]Can use many different powers of the mind which include: mind talking, dream walking, healing, and an innate sense of emotions (meaning they are very sensitive to the emotions of the people around them)
[/li][li]Are often not very strong, but agile and smart/crafty.
[/li][li]Can tell the 'breed' of a person by an aura (normal humans are the range of normal colors like red, blue, yellow, white... whilst gifteds are gold for shifters, silver for mentals and none for vampires)

All of these species can communicate with the horses that live on the mainland, but only if the horse chooses them first. You know that a horse chooses you because it will bite you to steal some of your blood, for it will give it your life span. Horses never talk to anyone else but their chosen people, and once you have a horse, you are stuck with it for life.
This ceremony, called the Equine Connection, happens once a student becomes a full member of their respective colonies. When, or if, the student is chosen they return with their Equine.
((you get to choose and RP your Equine, and if you are creating a full member, you must fill out the Equine creation form as well.))
